This week we talked about what makes each of us unique. We can share our unique styles and personality through our hair, and also through our clothes, glasses, freckles, and more. It’s fun to embrace what makes us special and be proud of who we are! We read the excellent book, Hair Love and also watched the Oscar winning, short animated film. Below is a sample of some of our drawings.

Hibernation
This week in the learning commons, students explored the topic of Hibernation. We read books about hibernating animals, we researched hibernating animals on World Book Kids Online, and we checked out the fascinating grouse mountain bear cam. Students learnt about Grinder and Coola and their amazing survival story. Vancouver author Shelley Hrdlitschka wrote a book about them called The Grizzlies: The True Adventures of Coola and Grinder of Grouse Mountain.
Here are the books we read:
When we looked at the Bear Cam, Grinder and Coola weren't moving at all, they were cuddled up so close. When I checked the bear came later on, they were moving very slowly. Here is a picture of them cuddling. Can you think of other animals that hibernate?
